The Guilford Amateur Society (G.A.S.) is open to all who are interested in Amateur Radio and Electronics. The club has been organized for many years and has been active in many ways. Our programs are varied, interesting and informative.

We participate in public affairs especially during times of distress such as natural disasters.

Membership in the club helps to support the repeater. Through the efforts of W4ACY, now a silent key, the call was obtained as a memorial to Bob Byrum, one of the charter members of the old Greensboro Radio Club. We are proud of the call and respect it very highly. Jim Hightower, W4JLH, is the trustee of the call sign.

W4GG is a member of PCRN (Piedmont Coastal Repeater Network) which will give us statewide coverage and more except for a few dark spots.

The Guilford Amateur Society has an Echolink node at W4JLH-R.
